Bones and Joints

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint disorder. OA occurs when the cartilage between two joints wears down so the bones rub together, resulting in swelling and stiffness. Symptoms usually appear in middle age, and almost everyone has some symptoms by the age of 70.

Symptoms

  • Joint pain and swelling
  • Mild joint stiffness and swelling sometimes occurs
  • Morning stiffness that lasts more than one hour, typically in the morning
  • Swelling, warmth, or redness over the joint

Ayurvedic treatment

Ayurvedic treatment

The Ayurvedic texts consider the disc as a representative of Majaa dhatu and Kapha dosha. Kapha is one of the three primary doshas managing and governing our body.

Therefore, the slip disc treatment in ayurveda includes virechana, Basti and Nasya from classical Panchakarma. There are some other procedures like - Shalwana Sweda, Updeha, Kati Basti, Greeva Basti, etc. Most of all these procedures have oils and ghee. We use medicated ghee and oils.

Sciatica

Sciatica pain is caused by an irritation, inflammation, pinching or compression of a nerve in the lower back. The most common cause is a herniated or slipped disk that causes pressure on the nerve root. Most people with sciatica get better on their own with time and self-care treatments.

Babunah is also known as Bitter Chamomile. Not only is it used to relieve and reduce the pain faced by a sciatica patient, but it is also used for treating problems such as rheumatism due to the advancement of age.

Guggulu is also known as Indian Bdellium. Since guggulu is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties, it relaxes the sciatic nerves.

Spondilaitis
